Even though it looks like we are strolling in Netherlands – believe it or not you can find these tulip fields in Canada! We got a chance to hit the Abbotsford tulip festival yesterday. And as we speak I’m kicking and asking myself that why on earth I haven’t gone there before!!! First time I even heard about this was maybe two years ago and I didn’t go!??! Now that I’m thinking I probably have seen people posting pictures from the festival but honestly thought that they are from Netherlands 😀 Hahaha

As a first timer there – when I stepped into the tulip fields I felt like I was without a doubt in a story book. It was every girls dream. The tulip fields were breathtakingly beautiful and magical. We took our time walking around the fields, admiring the scenery of flowers and taking a ton of pictures.

If you are interested you still have few days left to go. The festival ends on May 14th. I think this would be a perfect Mother’s Day weekend activity idea. Just make sure you get your tickets online a night before you go (or even earlier) since it’s the festival’s final weekend.

PS. You probably noticed that dogs are welcome too. We give paws up for that!

Aaand in the blink of an eye we are in May. The past two weeks have gone by so fast that I can barely keep up. But I’m so happy that May is finally here since we have many wonderful things lined up for this month. We got tickets to U2 concert – The Joshua Tree tour which is in two weeks and me saying that I’m excited is an under statement! I seriously can’t hold my horses! 😀 And we have a little road trip planned week after that which is another thing what I’m really looking forward to. Also our June (partially) and August are already fully booked but we are still trying to figure out if we should keep a part of our vacation in July or later in the fall. I kind of wanna escape to some place nice but I have no idea where 😀 Have you guys started planning your summer vacations or parties already?

I usually don’t get hydrangeas until June. But I’ve never seen them in this colour before and apparently this particular colour is in season right now, or was at the time when I got them. I’ve had these since the Easter and I still have one left and going strong. Hydrangeas are so lovely and easy flowers to take care of.

The spring was late this year here in Vancouver and I normally get my branches in March. But this year after patiently waiting I ordered Mangolia branches from my favourite florist. Finally they arrived during the Easter weekend. My husband went to pick them up… and I said to him to bring me two branches. Instead of the two he brought a whole tree worth of them 😀 They were huge!!!! But he had a good reason to get them all since these were leftover branches from some display or photoshoot and my hubby got the whole bunch for $12. Crazy! They are oh so beautiful (very messy though)

Hi there! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend with your family and friends. I swear that I was smelling summer yesterday morning when I was taking my dog out! It smelled fresh but summery and I could feel the morning mist on my face. Only a little detail that was missing was the warmer temperature but not too much actually. Our early summer mornings up in the mountain are a bit chilly. But this was the first morning this spring that I felt this way. We are so close to summer!

But back to the Easter recap – I don’t know about you but in my case I can’t even look or think about chocolate for a good while! Well, ask me again next week 😀 But at least for now I’m so full and I feel like I can go the rest of the year without it. Eating chocolate was definitely planned 😀 But the rest of our long weekend didn’t go quite as planned. Ok, first of all we didn’t plan to do anything. Which turned out to be a big mistake since my hubby’s work took over the whole Easter. As much as it would be nice to stay home sometimes, there’s a risk that comes with it… At least I feel like it’s playing with fire. This is our number one reason why we take off so often even for just a quick overnight getaway. But despite the circumstances I tried to relax as much as I could. Usually when I’m home alone I start cleaning and doing laundry etc. but this time I decided to hold off and really try to do nothing. Well you know how it goes, it doesn’t take much to turn the long weekend to feel like a regular weekday with a load of laundry or having to run any errands. I just wanted to be.

But don’t worry it wasn’t all bad, we got one of our friends to stop by during the weekend and we played a board game for good 5 hours 😀 And just what the doctor ordered we got a glimpse of sunshine two days in a row which was oh so welcomed. We went to our front yard to take pictures of the beautiful cherry trees. These trees were humming loudly since they were full of bees. That’s why my dog keeps looking up in one of the pictures.

Anyways last weekend was a good reminder that things don’t always go as planned. What a bummer but I’ll live! It was also a good reminder that planning ahead this could have been avoided 😀 Overall life is full of surprises! <3

Enjoy your week!

Good morning lovelies! I hope your week is on a good start. It’s the Easter week! Are you guys already fully prepared? I haven’t done much to be honest. I took a couple little Easter decors out of my super organized storage (thanks to the KonMari book :D) and that’s about it. Although I probably get a bouquet of tulips before the weekend. Another thing that I haven’t even started planning yet is the Easter weekend menu. And that’s definitely up high on my to do list. Maybe today even. I’m also hoping that the weather would take a turn for better so that we could do a hike or two during the long weekend. It’s been raining sooooo much lately. And not just little rain but pouring almost every day!

Well, the good thing with this soggy weather is that I’ve got so many things done around the house. After the crazy KonMari spring cleaning process I was painting our laundry door this week. Apparently I’m doing laundry so aggressively that our laundry door was full of scratches and black marks! 😀 I gave it a couple of coats of fresh paint and it’s like new again. I’m trying to be careful for now on.

I have some other walls as well that needs to be painted again.. and I’m wondering if I should just do it and get it over with or should I make my husband do it. 😀 hehe. But it usually means that it won’t happen as quickly that I would want. I’m not suggesting that he’s lazy 😀 He’s just so busy with his work that things like these need to be planned in well advance. I could do it .. but you know I kind of want to paint my nails instead 😀

Also, in hopes of warmer days I’ve been updating my closet with some new spring and summer clothes. Last summer I cleaned out my closet so good that I can’t even recall what I wore 😀 Probably nothing… But now I should be well covered.

Here’s an update of what’s been going on 🙂 A little bit of this and that – nothing out of ordinary. Wishing you lovely Monday!
