EASTER RECAP

posted in: Easter, Spring | 5

Hi there! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend with your family and friends. I swear that I was smelling summer yesterday morning when I was taking my dog out! It smelled fresh but summery and I could feel the morning mist on my face. Only a little detail that was missing was the warmer temperature but not too much actually. Our early summer mornings up in the mountain are a bit chilly. But this was the first morning this spring that I felt this way. We are so close to summer!

But back to the Easter recap – I don’t know about you but in my case I can’t even look or think about chocolate for a good while! Well, ask me again next week 😀 But at least for now I’m so full and I feel like I can go the rest of the year without it. Eating chocolate was definitely planned 😀 But the rest of our long weekend didn’t go quite as planned. Ok, first of all we didn’t plan to do anything. Which turned out to be a big mistake since my hubby’s work took over the whole Easter. As much as it would be nice to stay home sometimes, there’s a risk that comes with it… At least I feel like it’s playing with fire. This is our number one reason why we take off so often even for just a quick overnight getaway. But despite the circumstances I tried to relax as much as I could. Usually when I’m home alone I start cleaning and doing laundry etc. but this time I decided to hold off and really try to do nothing. Well you know how it goes, it doesn’t take much to turn the long weekend to feel like a regular weekday with a load of laundry or having to run any errands. I just wanted to be.

But don’t worry it wasn’t all bad, we got one of our friends to stop by during the weekend and we played a board game for good 5 hours 😀 And just what the doctor ordered we got a glimpse of sunshine two days in a row which was oh so welcomed. We went to our front yard to take pictures of the beautiful cherry trees. These trees were humming loudly since they were full of bees. That’s why my dog keeps looking up in one of the pictures.

Anyways last weekend was a good reminder that things don’t always go as planned. What a bummer but I’ll live! It was also a good reminder that planning ahead this could have been avoided 😀 Overall life is full of surprises! <3

Enjoy your week!

XOXO

EASTER WEEK

posted in: Easter, Spring, Uncategorized | 2

Good morning lovelies! I hope your week is on a good start. It’s the Easter week! Are you guys already fully prepared? I haven’t done much to be honest. I took a couple little Easter decors out of my super organized storage (thanks to the KonMari book :D) and that’s about it. Although I probably get a bouquet of tulips before the weekend. Another thing that I haven’t even started planning yet is the Easter weekend menu. And that’s definitely up high on my to do list. Maybe today even. I’m also hoping that the weather would take a turn for better so that we could do a hike or two during the long weekend. It’s been raining sooooo much lately. And not just little rain but pouring almost every day!

Well, the good thing with this soggy weather is that I’ve got so many things done around the house. After the crazy KonMari spring cleaning process I was painting our laundry door this week. Apparently I’m doing laundry so aggressively that our laundry door was full of scratches and black marks! 😀 I gave it a couple of coats of fresh paint and it’s like new again. I’m trying to be careful for now on.

I have some other walls as well that needs to be painted again.. and I’m wondering if I should just do it and get it over with or should I make my husband do it. 😀 hehe. But it usually means that it won’t happen as quickly that I would want. I’m not suggesting that he’s lazy 😀 He’s just so busy with his work that things like these need to be planned in well advance. I could do it .. but you know I kind of want to paint my nails instead 😀

Also, in hopes of warmer days I’ve been updating my closet with some new spring and summer clothes. Last summer I cleaned out my closet so good that I can’t even recall what I wore 😀 Probably nothing… But now I should be well covered.

Here’s an update of what’s been going on 🙂 A little bit of this and that – nothing out of ordinary. Wishing you lovely Monday!

Easter table

Hi there! Are you all set up for the Easter weekend? I’m starting to get there 🙂 And here’s our Easter table setting that I promised earlier this week. What I love about North American Easter is that the Easter is celebrated with pastel colours. And I didn’t really learn to love decorating Easter until I moved here. Easter used to be always something that I didn’t give that much thought decor vice. But I love all the pastel coloured eggs and beautiful pink and white spring blooms outside 🙂 Bright yellow (absolutely nothing wrong with that) but it was never really my thing 😀

Bunny napkins made a return this year. I made these bunny napkins a couple years ago for Easter themed brunch, see it here. They are just so cute and a funny detail to add to the table setting.  Fresh tulips and of course no Easter without chocolate eggs 🙂 I fell in love with these pink glass Easter egg jars that I spotted in Pier 1 and I had to get a couple of them home with me! Also the little lamb is from there too!

Easter prepping

I got my Easter prepping going on the weekend and I started it all by visiting Michaels to get a little bottle of some multi surface paint. My mission was to paint some Easter eggs 😀 I only got one bottle of pink paint and I got to work! Well, before I could start the painting process I needed to blow some eggs first and let them dry completely. I blowed 8 eggs and that was only what my head and cheeks could handle 😀 Ok, 6. My hubby helped a little and blowed two of them. When that was done I painted half the eggs with this baby pink colour and I left the other half of eggs to be in their natural colour, different shades of light brown. When the pink eggs were completely dry I placed them on a feathered silver tray with the brown eggs.

I haven’t painted or decorated even one Easter egg since I was a kid! So, it was quite fun and interesting getting reconnected with the little kid in me 😀 haha. It was way more fun that I remembered. If I just have the time and energy, I always want to do some DIY projects here and there, even if it’s just a tiny little project. To me doing things like this is relaxing 🙂 And in my opinion, little DIY brings an extra personal touch.

Alright! Back to prepping and meal planning for the Easter weekend. I’m making a post about our Easter table setting later on this week so stay tuned!
