I’m all about convenience. I do most of my purchases online these days. I even shop my groceries online and get them to delivered to my door. I absolutely love the fact that I don’t have to spend my time in traffic. So how about getting a fresh kit of spices to you door every month? Yes please! I was contacted by a RawSpiceBar team and they asked if I would like to sample their spice kit. Absolutely!

So what is RawSpiceBar? Their mission is to give the best of the best in the spice world delivered to your door and keep your spices fresh by pre-measured portions. The reason that got my interest is that I’m definitely guilty of having spices in my drawers that are in bigger bags than needed and use maybe once or twice a year. Another thing that got my attention is that I don’t necessarily know what spices would go well together. Or that I would discover new flavour combos on my own. I think this a convenient, fun and exciting idea to learn and try new things in the kitchen.

Our house smelled so good after pulling these goodies fresh from the oven. I had a serious fight with myself so that I don’t eat the whole batch at once. I’m not joking.

My sample kit that I received had 3 different spice blends – Unpumpkin pie spice, Indo-french vandouvan and Peppercorn chai. And a bunch of unique recipes to go with them. Spices are all measured out precisely to the recipe portions so that you won’t end up with leftovers. This gives your drawers more room and keeps your spices fresh. Also each month they have a regional theme to take you around the world with different flavours and to me that sounds a lot of fun!

This time of the year, and now that we have fresh snow on the ground I decided to try the baked pumpkin donuts. I did have to modify the donuts with a muffin pan since I don’t own a donut pan. But the recipe actually says to use a muffin pan if needed or wanted.

RawSpiceBar does the whole process from sourcing to toasting, grinding and blending. And after all that it’s delivered to your door. For $7 a month (which is their best deal) you get a 3 freshly ground, recipe-ready flavour kits with unique recipes to go with it. You can go and check out more of their recipes online as well. Also after you sign up you can personalize your recipes suitable for you diet and make your own flavour profile.

If you are a foodie/baker and want to spice things up a little every month I highly recommend this. Or if you have a friend that likes to cook and you are still looking to get that perfect Christmas present for your friend – this is definitely a wonderful gift idea! And you are in luck since I have a $5 coupon for all of my readers for 6 or 12 month gift purchases or for your own subscription. Coupon code is: FLAVOR6

Cozy Couch

Snow is falling as I write and I’m having my third cup of coffee this morning. It’s quiet and I’m watching out the window in awe to see the snow to fall. It’s just so beautiful. I wouldn’t change this moment for anything. It’s also a perfect day to make a little nest to your couch with a soft blanket and a pile of pillows. Sipping your favourite hot drink. Mine at the moment is the polar bear hot chocolate.

I have mentioned it here before that during Christmas and winter time I want to bring softness and cozy feel to our home with a lot of different layers. I like to do that with soft and fluffy textiles or playing with different patterns. I partnered up with Urban Barn to create a soft and cozy living room space with these beautiful white Arya faux fur toss pillows. I think these pillows had my name on them the first time I saw them and my choice was easy. They go perfectly with my white themed home bringing more softness to our couch. In case you are wondering they have these pillows in a variety of different colours and soft faux fur blankets to go with them.

When you hold and hug something in your hands at the store and think how soft and fluffy – for example – these two pillows are, my first thought is that I have to fight about who gets to snuggle these pillows. It’s either me or my dog. Pet owners out there, you know what I’m talking about! Right? 😀

If you watched closely my other posts on Instagram or here on the blog you have probably noticed these pillows in our bedroom as well. I made our bed with these pillows and they go perfectly there as well! I’ve had hard time to decide where they stay. So far I like them here on my couch as I can see them.

Wishing you a lovely week! Remember to be patient and drive safely in the snow!

Gift guide

Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? I put together a little Christmas gift idea list of my favourite things that caught my eye this fall. And I just decided that everyone of these are on my list too 😀 So not just for a little inspiration for you but I also figured what I could get. hehe.

I’ve done most of my Christmas shopping already but I still have some left. I prefer shopping my gifts online, especially before Christmas. I absolutely HATE shopping in huge or even mediocre crowds. I would actually be willing to pay more so that I can just get some space and take my time. But in the past couple of years I’ve done all my Christmas and Boxing Day sale shoppings sitting on a couch in my pyjamas. Planning to do it this year too. 🙂

And next to my personal headache department. Shopping gifts for my husband. Anyone else there struggling in this boat? It doesn’t matter if it’s Christmas, birthday or what even occasion where giving gifts is involved. Shopping anything for him is pretty much impossible. Whenever I ask what would he like, his answer comes sharp as shot gun and it’s always – nothing. I have everything. I don’t need anything. He is a very busy man and has no time for anything really, so my options are few. And I can’t buy clothes every time. 😀 But what bugs me the most in this is that he always goes the extra mile when it comes to my gifts. And I feel a lot of pressure to get something nice for him too! And I hate that it’s really really really hard! I know that it’s not always about buying stuff but you know… Would be nice find something that he likes and didn’t expect at all.  Aren’t we women so much easier to shop for! 😀

Polar Bear Hot Chocolate

Polar bear hot chocolate anyone?

01polarbearhoneyvilla

I came across this adorable marshmallow polar bear idea when I was browsing Pinterest some time ago. Many times I find some cute ideas and I put them on a note that I will do them. But so many times something else steals my time and I keep postponing until the occasion has past. This time I’m so glad that I sticked to my plan and I gave this a try. I think these would be perfect in a Christmas party, kids birthday party or just for your own fun at your home cafe 🙂

You’ll need small, regular and jumbo size marshmallows. Candy eyeballs and peanut butter M&M’S (I used only the brown ones). Scissors and a little bit of icing or candy melts to glue the parts together.

I cut the regular size marshmallow in half and I attached it with the icing to the jumbo marshmallow to make a snout. Then M&M as a nose. Little marshmallows as ears and so on. Really easy and fast to do. It takes probably less than a minute to make 2 of these.

Then make your favourite hot chocolate. I tried the after eight hot chocolate for the first time and that was a terrible mistake 😀 I mean it was so good that I’m seriously scared to buy more. Top it with frothed milk or whipped cream and place your polar bear on top. I tried it both ways, the whipped cream and frothed milk and the frothed milk stays pretty longer than the cream. Cream will melt in seconds!

You probably got a glimpse on Instagram stories or Snapchat that I put our Christmas tree up on Friday. And so many of our neighbours seem to have done the same this weekend. It’s so nice to start seeing all the beautiful holiday lights come up and I get to enjoy them when I’m walking my dog. This coming week is going to be a lot of fun. Celebrating our wedding anniversary tomorrow and then later this week we are taking a little mini vacation to one of our favourite places once again.

Have a lovely Sunday night!
